A growing number of countries are considering and discussing the ways of implementing competence models and developing general national policies addressing the quality of education and credentialling in prevention. One of the first attempts at creating such a system on the international level is the International Certified Addiction Professionals (ICAP) system. It features a section and products, including examinations and a certification system, dedicated specifically to prevention. A similar path has been followed by a group of experts affiliated with the EUPC who are involved in the development of a training and certification system for trainers (aktivní odkaz). This is also the direction taken by the groups of authors associated with some major and successful prevention programmes and interventions. One example may be the European trainer and certification system for the Unplugged prevention programme .
